What it does
The HC-SR04 measures distance by ultrasonic pulse and drives the obstacle-avoidance exercises. It sits on a micro servo so the car can sweep and pick a direction.
Failure mode
The transducers are exposed and get knocked. Symptoms: readings stuck at maximum, wildly inconsistent values, or a car that stops for nothing. Check the wiring first — the four-pin header works loose long before the module fails.
