The DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise (M3E) is a professional-grade unmanned aerial system (UAS) designed for mapping, photogrammetric surveying, and remote inspection. It packages capabilities typically associated with larger, heavier platforms into a sub-kilogram, foldable body — making it relevant for field teams where portability and deployment speed matter.

Imaging system: wide camera and zoom working together

The primary sensor is a 20 MP 4/3 CMOS camera fitted with a mechanical shutter. The mechanical shutter eliminates rolling-shutter distortion, which is a common problem when capturing imagery at speed for photogrammetric processing — the technique that stitches overlapping aerial photos into 2D orthomosaics and 3D point clouds or surface models. A 56× hybrid zoom telephoto channel complements the wide camera, allowing operators to visually inspect structures, infrastructure, or terrain details at distance without repositioning the aircraft. These two optical functions — broad-area capture and close-detail inspection — are handled within the same flight.

Positioning: standard GPS and optional RTK

In its base configuration the M3E uses standard GNSS positioning. An optional Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) module can be added to achieve 1 cm horizontal and 1.5 cm vertical positioning accuracy. RTK works by correcting GNSS signals in real time using a reference station or network, dramatically reducing positional error. At this accuracy level, survey missions can often be completed with few or no ground control points (GCPs) — physical markers whose coordinates must otherwise be measured and matched to imagery manually, adding significant field time.

Operational endurance and data link

The platform supports up to 45 minutes of flight time, which reduces the number of battery swaps needed across large survey areas. Communication between aircraft and ground controller uses DJI's O3 Enterprise transmission system, rated to 15 km, providing a stable video and control link across extended or complex sites.

Software and ecosystem integration

The M3E is compatible with DJI's enterprise software suite, including mission-planning and photogrammetry-oriented workflows, and supports the broader DJI enterprise accessory ecosystem.
