Overview
MentorPi T1 is a ROS 2 platform rather than a car that happens to run ROS. Navigation, mapping and the sensor stack are wired into the standard ROS 2 tooling, so students work with the same launch files, topics and transforms they will meet in industry.
It is aimed squarely at polytechnic and university ROS 2 teaching, where the learning objective is the framework itself — SLAM, costmaps, navigation stacks and multi-node debugging — and the robot is the thing being commanded.
Expect a steeper start than the Python-only platforms. If a course has three weeks rather than a semester, TurboPi teaches vision faster; MentorPi earns its place when the syllabus is actually ROS 2.
