Overview
Qbot is an Arduino-based car programmed in Scratch 3.0, built for the first robotics unit a class ever runs. Assembly takes a couple of minutes, which matters when a double period has to cover building, coding and testing.
Typical use is line following, obstacle avoidance and light or sound response — the standard progression for a primary CCA or a Sec 1 introductory module. Control is by IR remote, mobile app or PC, so a lesson can start with driving before any code is written.
It is deliberately simple. If students will move on to computer vision or ROS within the same year, start higher up the range instead; Qbot is for the year before that.
