TonyPi Pro is a humanoid on a Raspberry Pi 5, with 18 degrees of freedom in the body and two more on the camera mount. Humanoid work is mainly about gait and balance, and a bipedal platform makes that visible in a way a wheeled robot never does.
It suits polytechnic and university labs, competition teams and advanced secondary programmes: inverse kinematics, gait cycles, vision-guided stepping and hand-eye coordination all have supplied starting points that students then rewrite.
Two things to plan for. Servos are the wear part on any humanoid — budget spares from the start, not after the first failure. And the camera is a wide-angle module rather than a high-resolution one; it is sized for tracking and recognition, not for image quality work.
